Small airplane goes missing west of Dallas

DALLAS, TX

The Shackelford County Sheriff's office says the ground search resumed around 7 a.m. Tuesday. A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter from Midland has been dispatched to assist.

The Federal Aviation Administration says a Piper Comanche bound from Abilene to Norman, Okla., lost contact around 7:30 p.m. Monday near Albany, about 150 miles west of Dallas.

FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said Tuesday that the agency has no information on how many people were on board the single-engine plane.

An FAA database indicates the plane is registered to Baga Air Inc. of Wilmington, Del. Public phone records had no listing for the company.
