Pat Lykos faces challenger in DA race

One day after police unions announced a "no confidence" vote in Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos, she has a primary challenger.

Former prosecutor and judge Mike Anderson filed to run against Lykos on Wednesday. Like the police unions, Anderson says Lykos' decision not to prosecute small drug cases is the wrong choice. He also says Lykos is soft on the death penalty and says her office has created a working environment that forced dozens of senior prosecutors out.

"There are good people there right now who are afraid to be the best that they can be. You make them understand, you do the right thing under the law, and you are not going to get in trouble with me," Anderson said.

Democrats Zack Fertitta and Lloyd Oliver are also in the race for DA. We'll hear from them on Thursday.
