Officer shoots smash and grab burglary suspect

Derousalle Mosley of Houston was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Upon his release from the hospital, he is facing charges for burglary of a building, evading in a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

An apparent smash and grab robbery turned into an officer-involved shooting overnight in Conroe.

Just before 4am, a Conroe Police officer was patrolling in the 1100 block of South Frazier when he spotted a white pickup truck that had backed through the front door of the Shop and Go gas station. The store had sustained extensive damage.

As the officer pulled in to the parking lot to investigate, the suspect sped away in the truck. The officer gave chase, and pursued the suspect vehicle for a short distance before it crashed into a tree. The suspect got out of the vehicle and was shot once in the left leg.

The vehicle that the suspect was driving was determined to have been stolen out of Houston.

The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
