Friends and family gathered outside Ron Garan's home in Nassau Bay to greet him.
He just spent five months on the International Space Station.
The city placed 164 American flags in his yard -- one for each day he was in space.
"This is great. It's a wonderful homecoming," Garan said. "I've been gone a long time. It's great to come back to Nassau Bay."
Garan and two Russian cosmonauts returned to Earth yesterday in a Soyuz capsule that landed in Kazakhstan.
