Deputies say Stephen Ellis, Jr. was speeding on Highway 290 eastbound near Telge when he tried to change lanes. Investigators say the front right of Ellis' Pontiac hit the back left end of an SUV, causing it to spin out of control and roll over. The driver of the SUV, Johnnie Lampton III, died at the scene.
Authorities say Ellis was drunk at the time and arrested. He was not injured.
Ellis is charged with intoxication manslaughter.
