Cops put on leave as video emerges of alleged beating

SANTA ANA, CA Five officers have been put on paid administrative leave. The investigation is being done by the Orange County district attorney's office.

The homeless man, Kelly Thomas, was allegedly beaten July 5 after police say he fled while being searched. He had a history of schizophrenia.

A new surveillance video shows witnesses telling a bus driver that the officers had used a stun gun and beaten Thomas. They say officers pounded his face and hogtied him as he cried out for his father.

Thomas suffered severe head and neck injuries and was taken off life support five days later.
