The search continues for a gunman who opened fire on a Houston police officer in northeast Houston. It happened on Curry near Berry just before midnight. The officer was responding to a suspicious person call when he spotted three men. He identified himself and the trio took off running. Just as the officer tried to get out of his vehicle, one of the men started shooting.

The bullets shattered the windshield of the squad car, but the officer was not hurt. Instead he returned fire, but investigators don't believe he hit any of the suspects.
