Wreck near San Augustine kills 5 people

SAN AUGUSTINE, TX Sr. Trooper Greg Sanchez said Monday that the cause of the wreck, which killed everyone in both vehicles, is sought. Sanchez told The Associated Press that speed, weather and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash Saturday night on FM 2213. Toxicology results are pending.

Sanchez says a southbound car driven by 53-year-old Charles David Thomas of San Augustine went over the center stripe and hit a northbound van driven by 65-year-old Weyman Hall of San Augustine.

The passengers in the Thomas car were 13-year-old Justin Wiggins and 26-year-old Charles Wayne Amburn, both of San Augustine and 23-year-old Jack Fountain of Center. Sanchez had no details on whether any of those four victims were related.
