A judge has ordered 25 years in prison for a San Antonio businessman who accepted $38,000 to do building work for an elderly couple, but abandoned the sloppy job. Prosecutor Shane Keyser says 65-year-old Douglas Leo Lott was linked to alleged scams dating to the 1960s and had been arrested 47 times.

Lott in August pleaded no contest to accepting payments through his S&B Building Contractors Co., then never finishing the project for 85-year-old Arthur Perales.

Judge Maria Teresa Herr on Monday also ordered Lott to make restitution, plus pay a $10,000 fine. Prosecutors say Lott still hasn't paid more than $56,000 to nine customers who sued him in 1996.

A bribery charge against Lott, who allegedly tried to pay off his probation officer to recommend probation, is pending.
