Pawn shop owner shot during robbery

ROSENBERG, TX The suspect is still at large. The robbery happened around 9am Thursday at Cry Baby's Pawn Shop on Avenue H in Rosenberg.

Police tell us the suspect broke into the back of the pawn shop. The owner was the only one inside and he did exactly what the robber told him to do. The owner took him to the safe and opened it, and that's when the robber shot him.

"He had stated that he was shot about 9 o'clock while he was in the process of opening his pawn shop. He was approached by a black male at the back door. The black male forced him physically to the safe area," said Colin Davidson with the Rosenberg Police Department.

Police also tell us that they're not sure whether or not the suspect had a gun or used one from the pawn shop. After being shot, the owner apparently was on the ground for several hours until an employee showed up to work around noon and found him lying on the floor.

The owner is in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Police don't know who the suspect is at this point and they are still investigating.

The suspect has been described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 6'2", 270 pounds, clean shaven and bald. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the suspect in this case, they are asked to call the Rosenberg Police Department at 832-595-3700 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
