A Houston Fire Department vehicle has been involved in a wreck in southwest Houston. At about 9am the truck was en route to an emergency call. The vehicle was northbound on Chimney Rock, but traveling in the southbound lanes in an effort to get around traffic. As the truck was turning eastbound onto Westheimer, it was struck by a passenger car.

The car suffered heavy damage, and there's significant damage to the front passenger door of Engine 28.

A fire captain who was riding in the front passenger seat was taken to Hermann Hospital with an injured foot. The driver of the car was reluctant to be transported to a hospital, but EMS crews convinced him to be taken to Memorial SW Hospital.

A third ambulance was called to the scene to transport a second firefighter to a hospital to be checked out.
