The Coast Guard Tuesday rescued a family of four from a sinking boat in the East Bay. A distress call came in to Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston involving a 15-foot craft caught in rough weather and taking on water. The Coast Guard launched a 25-foot response boat and helicopter. The sinking vessel was located around 10 minutes later.

The helicopter crew hoisted the survivors and transported them back to the Air Station where they were met by emergency management services, treated on scene and released.

The Coast Guard said the condition of the family is currently unknown.
