TX unemployment rate at 22-year high

The Texas unemployment rate is now up to 8.0 percent. That's a 22-year high for the state.In July, the state's jobless rate was at 7.9 percent. The Texas Workforce Commission says the state lost another 62,000 non-agricultural jobs, pushing August's jobless rate to 8.0 percent.

The unemployment rate for the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown region remained unchanged from July to August, at 8.4 percent. Texas is still well below the national unemployment rate of 9.7 percent.
