Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest

August 6, 2009 10:26:01 AM PDT
A tip to Crime Stoppers has led to the arrest of a man wanted for a murder that happened more than two years ago. Dasmin Hikiem Pierre is charged with the murder of John Matthews in March of 2007. On Thursday, a call came in to the Crime Stoppers tip line at around 6pm that Pierre was at a McDonald's inside Wal Mart on Beechnut and Beltway 8. That tip caller indicated they recognized Pierre from a news report earlier in the week.

Houston police detained Pierre, who they say initially lied about his identity. But police were able to confirm his identity with a portable fingerprint system.

A further check on Pierre revealed that he was also wanted out of New Orleans for attempted murder, armed robbery and kidnapping.
