According to police, Cameron Evins, age 2, sustained multiple serious injuries during an assault at his apartment at 9393 Tidwell on January 22. He was found unresponsive at about 10am. He suffered severe trauma to his head and abdomen and was taken to LBJ Hospital.
Hospital staff detemined Cameron needed to be transported to Ben Taub Hospital due to the extent of his injuries and for further evaluation. Cameron remained at Ben Taub Hospital for several days and was eventually transported to Texas Children's Hospital.
Cameron died at Texas Children's Hospital on February 13.
Investigators are interested in speaking with Cameron's mother's boyfriend, Damon Deshawn Polk, 28, as a person of interest in this case. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
