Jake Shafer, 14, presented a check for more than $2,000 to the DeGeorge Center for Homeless Vets. The Alvin teen has spent the year soliciting cash and other donations from the Alvin city council, local businesses and organizations.
The DeGeorge Center houses 100 previously homeless veterans.
