HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead, and two others are in the hospital after a house fire in northwest Harris County on Sunday morning, fire officials said.
According to the Cy-Fair Fire Department, crews responded to the blaze located in the 9600 block of Maple Leaf Drive near Zaka Road in the Maple Leaf Gardens Subdivision at about 10:05 a.m.
The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office said in an update that when crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire conditions and a reported trapped victim.
Firefighters quickly entered the home and found the victim, authorities said. HCFMO said the victim, identified as an older man, was pronounced dead.
Officials said that two additional residents were also inside the home during the fire, but they were able to escape. One of the residents tried to put out the fire but was unsuccessful, fire officials said.
The two residents were taken by Cy-Fair Medic to a local hospital due to smoke inhalation and are expected to be OK, authorities said.
Authorities did not confirm what started the fire. HCFMO said it is still investigating the incident. Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office were also dispatched to the residential fire, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
