Man charged with kidnapping after allegedly taking 1-year-old relative during wedding, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man is behind bars after he allegedly took a toddler during a wedding without the parents' permission, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Brown, 29, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

During a wedding happening in the 15400 block of Vantage Parkway on Saturday, Brown allegedly took a one-year-old relative from the celebration and drove away, deputies said.

According to investigators, Brown allegedly had been drinking before he got behind the wheel and did not have a car seat in his vehicle.

Brown and the toddler were later found 18 miles away from the wedding venue, parked on the side of the road, Gonzalez said. The toddler was unharmed, found on Brown's chest while he lay asleep, Gonzalez added.

HCSO did not say whether Brown will face additional charges.
