Authorities have recovered the body of a Texas A&M University student missing since a boating accident on Richland Chambers Lake. Texas game wardens and volunteers using sonar found the body of 23-year-old Charles Andrew "Chase" Bergfeld, of Conroe, on Thursday, the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife said in a news release. He had been missing since early Saturday after a boat carrying him and nine other college students struck a submerged object near a bridge in eastern Navarro County and sank.

The students were returning from a restaurant to a private residence on the lake at the time of the accident.

Bergfeld is believed to have been the operator of the boat. Navarro County Sheriff Les Cotten said previously that some of the students had been drinking.

The investigation is ongoing.
