It happened just after 2am on St. Emanuel near Bell. Several off-duty deputy constables noticed men in the parking lot placing weapons in their pants. One suspect was confronted and another shot at the deputy constables, hitting one of them in the shoulder.

The deputy constable who was shot is Mark Timmers, who's known for handling animal abuse cases. He's already been released from Memorial Hermann Hospital. A second person was also shot, but it's not yet known if he was an innocent witness or a suspect.

A stray bullet also went through the window of a nearby home. No one in the house was injured.

No arrests have been made.
