Drug money to buy officers safety gear

HOUSTON District Attorney Ken Magidson presented Precinct 6 Constable Victor Trevino with a check for $56,630. The donation came from the DA's forfeiture fund which includes money taken from criminals such as drug dealers.

Magidson said, "We're going to return as much as we can to our law enforcement partners here in Harris County to reduce crime to make it a safer place."

"We're going to get 10 extra radios. We're going to get approximately 20 bulletproof vests and five of the big body armors," Trevino said. "Ladies and gentlemen, we're very grateful."

District Attorney Magidson also presented Crime Stoppers with a $250,000 check to operate its cash rewards program.
