July 26, 2008 10:58:59 AM PDT
Around 3:30am, a man tried to cross Highway 290 in northwest Houston when he was hit by a vehicle and killed. The man was on the inbound lanes near 34th when the car struck him. The driver kept going with the man on the car. He later hit the brakes, causing the body to fall onto a feeder road.

The driver then took off. A short time later, dispatch received a phone call about the incident. Houston police investigated and officers say the caller was the driver involved in the wreck. They believe he may have been drunk at the time of the accident. He was arrested.
