Prairie View ends 10-game skid

JACKSON, MS Ezeh's basket with 9:58 left gave Prairie View (3-13, 1-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) a 52-51 lead after Jackson State (5-13, 3-2) had fought back from a 39-31 halftime deficit. The Panthers then outscored the Tigers 24-5 over the next five minutes to stretch their lead to 74-56 with 4:58 remaining.

It was the Panthers' first win in Jackson since 1989.

Aaron Smith added 15 points, Dorian McDaniel had 11 and Derek Johnson scored 10 for Prairie View, which led by as many as 17 points in its first road win of the season.

Jackson State shot 31 percent and hit only 8 of 26 shots in the second half.

Grant Maxey led Jackson State with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Darrion Griffin scored 15, Jeremy Caldwell had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Catraiva Givens scored 12.

Jackson State committed 21 turnovers, leading to 27 Prairie View points. The Panthers also dusted the Tigers in transition with a 14-0 advantage in fastbreak points.
