HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are searching for a woman who fatally shot a man in southwest Houston parking lot and fled the scene.
A video shows the suspect running toward a car then speeding off from a parking lot in the 6300 block of Fairdale.
It's still unclear what instigated the shooting, but a witness tells Eyewitness News he saw the victim approaching the woman's car.
"I was originally going to apologize for taking a parking spot, and when I saw him go to her car door I thought they knew each other, and that's when I heard three shots," the witness said. "He was running and screaming for his life and I thought it was going down the other way. I thought he was robbing her and shooting her and now he's running."
Police say the woman shot the man and assaulted him before driving off.
"It doesn't appear random, it appears he probably knew her. Can't say that certain, but that's what it seems like," said Sgt. Matthew Brady of the Houston Police.
Investigators say it's time to hear her side of what happened.
"There's witnesses everywhere, half of it was on video. It's not going to go away, so we're urging her to call us," said Brady.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to undergo surgery, but he didn't make it.
The woman was described only as a blonde female who's about 6 feet tall. She was wearing workout clothes and driving a black Hyundai.
