WHARTON, TX (KTRK) -- For the second time in 2 months, people in Wharton are being told to pack up because of rising flood waters.

Back in April, large portions of the city were evacuated when the Colorado River flooded its banks. And now it's happening again in May. A mandatory evacuation order is in effect again.
Residents in the area bounded on the west by Wilkes Street, north by Hendon Street, east by Spanish Camp to ML King and ML King to Outlar, on the south by Camellia and also from South Sunset to Bell Street must evacuate by 7am Monday.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter for displaced residents at the Wharton Boys and Girls Club on 2120 Newton Street.
Officials warn that residents in the impacted areas may experience a loss of sewer services beginning.
Mandatory evacuation orders are also in effect for residents in Simonton and Rosenberg, and a voluntary evacuation order is in effect for some folks in Missouri City. Get details of those orders.
