Tornado flips car at Louisiana repair shop

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (KTRK) -- Dramatic new video shows a tornado sweeping across the parking lot of an auto repair shop with frightening results.

A twister was caught on surveillance camera as it moved through the Lafayette business, picking up a car and tossing it several feet.

The tornado was part of the same violent storm system responsible for at least five deaths in three states.

This tornado was spotted crossing the plains of Abilene Tuesday evening

Storm damage is being reported as far east as South Carolina.

ABC13 Chief Meteorologist Tim Heller said Monday evening the video shows why you should never stay inside a car during a tornado.
