A nice weekend with 2 cold fronts on the way next week
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Our fall-feel rolls on today, and two more fronts are on the way after a warm up this weekend.
We're starting the weekend off right, warming into the mid 70s with full sunshine after a chilly start.
Do we get to enjoy this fall weather through the weekend?
The Gulf breeze will kick up a notch on Sunday, bringing back mild mornings and warm, humid afternoons. The low on Sunday will be in the upper 50s to low 60s with a high near record levels in the low-to-mid 80s. Both days this weekend should be dry, but you will notice more low clouds in the sky blocking out sunshine a times on Sunday.
When is our next cold front?
Our next cold front arrives Monday night followed by a stronger cold front on Thanksgiving Day. The first front will pack a little more of a cooling punch than originally anticipated, so we'll cool off into the 50s Tuesday morning with highs struggling to get back into the 70s.
What is the outlook for Thanksgiving Day?
Everything hinges on the timing of the stronger cold front arriving on Thanksgiving Day, which remains uncertain this many days out. Right now it looks like we could be in for a warm start to Thanksgiving Day with temps in the 70s at sunrise then a cold finish with temps in the 50s at sunset. We'll continue to refine the timing and impacts as the holiday approaches. This does not look to be a significant rainmaker for us. For now we believe the front will offer up a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
When could we get our first freeze in Houston?
Long range projections indicate that the earliest our first freeze could happen is the first week of December, but that is a low probability at this time. On average, Houston's first freeze occurs during the second week of December.
