Heat index could hit 112° today | Heat Advisory from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A dangerous combination of heat and humidity is coming to Houston Thursday. A Heat Advisory will go into effect for all of southeast Texas at 9 a.m. and expire at 7 p.m.

Triple-digit-heat will expand across Texas, pushing our highs into the upper 90s. Heat index values could reach 112, putting us into a heat danger zone.

The heat will abate some this weekend and Monday as scattered downpours cool off some Houston area neighborhoods. After the storms clear out, a thick cloud of dust from African's Sahara Desert will turn the sky hazy gray for a few days next week.
