Rain chances drop off Wednesday and Thursday, climb up again Friday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Rain chances are dropping off the next couple of days, but a batch of tropical moisture blowing in Friday will boost them back up again.

There's only a 20% chance you'll get a shower or thunderstorm Wednesday, but where they pop up the rain could get briefly heavy. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid 70s and peak in the mid 90s, which is a typical temperature range for mid August.

What can we expect for the rest of the work week?

Rain chances will stay on the low side, ranging from 10-30%. The best chance we have left for a few showers and storms lands on Friday when tropical moisture arrives. Otherwise, expect warm mornings and hot afternoons with afternoon highs reaching into the upper 90s by the end of the week.

What about the weekend with the Pride Houston Parade?

It's going to be a hot, humid, and mostly rain-free weekend. A heat dome will begin to settle in across the region over the weekend, likely giving highs a boost into the upper 90s. The heat index both Saturday and Sunday afternoon could peak near 107 degrees. There is a 20% chance of an afternoon shower on Saturday and only a 10% chance on Sunday.

The primary wave to watch for potential tropical development is over the central Atlantic, and it is likely to become the season's next named storm.
