HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Harris County murder convict who escaped from a Texas prison nearly six years ago is now featured on the state's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list.
Jose Fernando Bustos-Diaz, 27, was charged in a 2005 Harris County murder. In 2006, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
On April 6, 2010, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, he escaped from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Briscoe Unit in Dilley, located about 70 miles southwest of San Antonio.
Officials believe Bustos-Diaz fled to Mexico.
Bustos-Diaz is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 195 pounds. Bustos-Diaz has significant acne scaring on his face and birthmarks on his chest. He also has multiple tattoos, including a heart with a cross on the webbing of his left hand; the name "Vanessa" with one dot on the inside of his left wrist; and the name "Lizeth" on the inside of his right wrist.
