Camera captures bold Versace dining set theft
A heist in the Heights you have to see to believe. And lucky for us, surveillance cameras caught the whole thing

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Heights-area family hopes surveillance video helps to track down their dining room chairs.

The Versace-brand chairs were among a pile of belongings Dr. Victor Zurita and his wife were sorting through in their dental office garage. While his wife took a trip to the trash bin around the corner, she left the pile and closed the garage door.

"When she came back, the furniture was gone," said Zurita. "We didn't expect it because it was right in the middle of the day."

Zurita and his wife spent $16,000 on the whole set 10 years ago. Now, all that's left is the table.

"It seems like the guy works around in the neighborhood. So maybe somebody in the Heights would identify him," he said, hoping to recover the chairs.

Surveillance video shows the accused thief removing lawn care tools out of the bed of his truck before loading it with the chairs.

Zurita doesn't think this was an honest misunderstanding. There were no posted signs for free stuff or garage sales.

"And it wasn't on the street; it was right against the wall of the building," he said.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance video or his black pickup truck, call Houston Police.
