Vegan teacher loses job for post
A teacher in Ohio has lost his job after he posted a post concerning animals at a farm

SMITHVILLE, OH (KTRK) -- A teacher in Smithville, Ohio, is fighting to get his job back after he was let go over a Facebook post.

The second grade teacher posted a picture of a dairy farm using crates to house baby calves.

The teacher, who is also an animal rights advocate, said that it was inhumane to separate the calves from their mothers.

In return, when it came time to renew his contract, the school board said they could not because the farm that owns the calves complained about his post.

Keith Allison, who is a vegan, said, "From what I was told, they were fearful, they were afraid someone might break their calf crates or free their cows, and that their children were not safe to be there."

The American Civil Liberties Union says Allison's post is free speech and that he should be reinstated.
