WALKER CO., TX (KTRK) -- A UPS truck driver is dead after a crash this morning in Walker County on FM 1696. The southbound lanes have now reopened.

The crash happened around 2:30am when an 18-wheeler car carrier jolted violently and the driver pulled over to find a UPS 19-wheeler attached to the rear of his car haulter. The UPS driver, of Keller, TX, died at the scene.

Several of the vehicles on the car hauler were shoved forward and crushed.

With police blocking the road another driver had a medical emergency and slammed into a Huntsville police patrol car. Neither the driver or officer were injured, the driver with the medical emergency was transported to the hospital.
