Weekend travel will be a challenge in Houston this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Freeway closures around Houston are causing delays as TxDOT road crews have expanded overnight and weekend work hours on various projects.

Closures will start at 9 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m.

Near downtown, I-10 East will be shut down outbound from US-59 to Waco. You can detour to the feeder.

The Gulf Freeway will also see a total closure, inbound at Broadway. The feeder or Telephone road will work as a detour.

However, there is some good news!

In the Galleria area, the northbound lanes of the West Loop and the southbound lanes of I-69 reopened on Sunday.

According to TxDOT, road work got done "a lot sooner than anticipated."
