Parade, holiday lighting, and Thanksgiving closures

Thanksgiving traffic kicks off this weekend
Katherine Whaley has a rundown of the areas that might cause you some traffic troubles this weekend.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Tis the season to hit the road! Thankfully, TxDOT is taking a break from several of the road projects during this heavy travel period.



If you normally take the HOV or HOT lanes, there are some altered hours for the Thanksgiving Holiday. On Wednesday, inbound lanes will be open from 5AM-10AM, and outbound lanes form 11AM-11PM. Thanksgiving Day, all HOT and HOV lanes will be closed. Friday will run a regular schedule. On Saturday and Sunday, inbound lanes will be open from 10AM to 8PM.



Also, Uptown Holiday lighting happens along Post Oak Boulevard on Thanksgiving evening. Post Oak will be closed between San Felipe and Westheimer, from 3PM - 10PM, detour to the West Loop or Sage. Parking is available at the Centre at Post Oak, Dillard's, William's Tower, Four Oaks Place, Post Oak Plaza, Post Oak Central.



Additionally, expect road closures for the 66th Annual HEB Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade rolls at 9AM, but closures for parade route begins at 8:15AM. Staging closures start at 6AM on Allen Pkwy inbound at Taft, Allen Pkwy outbound from Bagby to Sabine street, Allen Pkwy at Clay (split), Bagby southbound at Rusk, and Bagby northbound at Dallas. Te parade will disband on Allen Pkwy inbound between Bagby and Taft street.
