Hopeful Houston singles audition for Bachelor, Bachelorette

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Before any rose is ever handed out, all of the Bachelor and Bachelorette hopefuls have to start in a casting call. Hundreds of beautiful young women -- and a few men -- started down the road to the final rose by auditioning at the Downtown Aquarium Thursday evening. Many of them were hoping to find true love on the next seasons of the popular reality shows.

"I think there's a very good chance I'll be able to [find love]," explained Emily, who was trying out with her best friend.

The process stars with a paper application, a quick picture and then a short, on-camera interview for the producers.

Shelby said her best friends were "making" her try out. "They are all getting married or already married," she said. "I'm in three weddings this year, invited to seven. They were like, you're the single one and you're going."

"I was thinking, the dating world is exhausting!" exclaimed Alyse. She brought her skateboard to show off her skills in order to stand out among the crowd.

"I'm able to longboard in high heels, and I do it pretty well. So I feel like that's gotta be a little talent in there."

Christly brought her ukulele to play for the interviewer. She wanted to try out to be the next Bachelorette.

"Every time I watch I think that would be so much fun and all the dudes on there are always super hot," she said.

Several men were trying out for the Bachelorette as well, however, they were vastly outnumbered by all of the women. Robert said he wasn't sure if he would be able to find true love on the show.

"Who knows. I mean, who knows. But they're all American and I'm from Canada and I need a green card," he joked.

The casting call was open from 5-9pm, but a large crowd remained after the doors were closed. Producers would be in contact with some of the selected contestants for call backs within 4-6 weeks.
