Police arrested one man and are looking for another after the pair hit a school bus in Conroe, then ran off, a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.
Officials said they are determining who is at fault following the crash on Tuesday, which reportedly involved two other vehicles and sent two people to the hospital
METRO officials said that the bus is believed to have been hit from behind by another vehicle and subsequently went off the bridge.
The district said a second bus was called to take the students to their campus. Police did not disclose if the driver was arrested at the scene.
METRO said a mechanic was doing a routine road test when someone walked on the road, and the operator was unable to stop in time.
According to METRO, someone walking in the HOV lane near West Road along the freeway was hit by the bus and died.
