On Monday, the Stratford High School golfer was recognized for his hard work both on the golf course and in the classroom. He was given a $5,000 scholarship of champions award from Reliant and the Houston Texans.

"I took up golf after I loss my hearing and vision because from that day on I wasn't allowed to play football and I really wanted to play football, but after I got sick I decided to take something more peaceful," Woodruff said.

Woodruff is one of the co-captains of the Stratford golf team, as well as class valedictorian. He, along with eight other Houston-area high school athletes, will be recognized at the Houston Texans game on December 21 for their accomplishments.
