HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Texans traded up to the 11th pick in the second round of the NFL draft tonight to to add linebacker help. Houston selected Benardrick McKinney out of Mississippi State.

McKinney, a junior, is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 246 pounds. His 40-yard dash time is 4.66 seconds.

The Texans needed help at inside linebacker. According to sports reporter David Nuno, McKinney can play both inside and out. He allows for depth at the position, plus with Brian Cushing's injuries over the years, McKinney could see significant playing time. He's a very good downhill player.

"I'm very excited, man," McKinney said after the pick. "It's a great honor."

McKinney was actually a two-star quarterback in high school.
