Daniel Steres' goal in the 72nd minute and a sterling performance in goal by Steve Clark proved to be the difference as the Houston Dynamo did just enough to beat visiting Inter Miami CF 1-0 on Saturday in an interconference match.

Steres stationed himself in the center of the box and used his left foot to turn around a headed pass by Corey Baird that beat Miami keeper Drake Callender. The Dynamo (4-3-1, 13 points) won their fourth straight home match this season.

Clark had five saves, all in the first half, to capture his fourth clean sheet of the season and the 54th of his 10-year MLS career.

Inter Miami (2-6-0, 6 points) lost their sixth straight match after starting the season with two wins. They have been held without a goal in five of those losses, including the last three, and have been outscored 9-2 in the losing streak.

Miami was the aggressor in the first half, producing five shots in goal to only one for the home side.

Leonardo Campana forced Clark's first save with a header from the center of the box in the eighth minute. Jean Mota has a scoring chance in the 22nd minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box, but Clark made the save at the center of the goal.

Five minutes later, Campana threatened again with back to back shots. The first attempt, from close range, forced Clark to save it at the bottom left corner, and the rebound bounced to Campana just to the left of the six-yard box. Clark again made the stop at the center of the goal.

Houston had its only shot on goal of the half in the 44th minute as Hector Herrera tested Callender on a laser from outside the box but was turned away.

Miami responded with the half's final chance when Clark saved Corentin Jean's left footed try from the right side of the box.

Miami's best chance to break through in the second half came in the 67th minute when Mota clanged a shot off the left post.
