HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Team USA gymnast and four-time gold medalist Simone Biles returned home to Houston.
Biles, who also won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, was greeted by family, friends and fans when her plane landed at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Mayor Sylvester Turner, other city and county officials, and the Houston Texans cheerleaders cheered her arrival.
"On behalf of all Houstonians, I want to welcome home Simone Biles and all of the returning Houston-area Olympians," said Mayor Sylvester Turner.
"Our chests collectively swelled with admiration and pride as we watched this little powerhouse of an athlete perform her way to four golds and old bronze medal at the Rio games."
Biles won her four gold medals after impressive performances in the women's vault, women's team all-around, women's floor exercise, and women's individual all around. The bronze medal was for the women's beam.
Hometown Hero Simone Biles Grabs Fourth Olympic Gold Medal
Biles is the most decorated American gymnast after the 2016 games. She is one of only four women to accomplish the feat in all of Olympic history.
The hometown hero was honored when she was chosen to become only the second gymnast in Olympic history to lead Team USA into a closing ceremony, and the first-ever female gymnast to be selected as a flag bearer for either an opening or closing ceremony.
