Longtime Astros fan has memorabilia dating back to the 1980s

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- While some fans may have jumped on the Houston Astros bandwagon, one fan told ABC13 he's been dedicated to the team for years.

A walk down the hallway at Todd Nelkin's home is a walk down memory lane. Some of the items collected include a baseball bat signed by the 1986 Astros and a champagne bottle from the locker room after the team celebrated a postseason win in 1980.

"I was a history major in college, I just love how baseball unites America," Nelkin said.

He said he doesn't keep the items for money, but for the personal stories attached to them.
