A 3-year-old girl was mistakenly left behind by her parents at a rest stop in southern France for more than two hours, according to ABC News.

The family was traveling south towards the coastal town of Saint Raphael, authorities said. The parents reportedly asked their two other children in the car if everything was OK, but no one had noticed the 3-year-old had been left behind.

According to ABC News, the family was 90 miles away from the rest stop when they heard a message on the radio from police to pick up their daughter.

"Another family was at the rest stop and noticed the girl was alone for a while," Clara Thomas, deputy prefect of the town of Die said on French TV. "They took care of her and called police to let them know."

The child was able to tell officers what her parents' car looked like and said "Daddy's car drove away," according to French media.

Thomas said the parents were "traumatized," stating that they had "no previously reported problems." Local police said they would speak to the prosecutor in Valence, a nearby town, to determine if any further action should be taken.
