Cops give drivers turkeys, not tickets

SALTILLO, Mississippi (KTRK) -- Usually, getting pulled over by police leaves drivers feeling frustrated. But some special holiday traffic stops in Mississippi are leaving drivers giving thanks.

Police in Mississippi are giving drivers free Thanksgiving turkeys.

Police officers in Saltillo, are stopping motorists to hand out turkeys, not tickets.

It's an effort to give back to the community during the holidays.

Local businesses collected food and monetary donations to fuel the initiative. It's called "giving 2017."

Officers are hoping it will become an annual tradition.
