Army mom surprises her 5th grade son during class project

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (KTRK) -- A school project turned into an emotional reunion for one fifth grader in Alabama.

Sgt. Desiree Lancey disguised herself by dressing as the school mascot, and surprised her son.

Once the students finished singing the national anthem, Lancey jumped out of the costume and shocked her son.

Lancey has been deployed in Kuwait for the past year, and has not seen her son since Christmas.
