HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Officials are searching Sims Bayou after receiving reports of two men who went into the water while canoeing in southeast Houston.
According to the Houston Fire Department, one man was wearing a life vest and was able to swim to the shore and get out thanks to the help of a bystander. He was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Officials were still searching for the second man in the water near Old Galveston Road and Rockleigh Place. HFD said he did not have a life vest on.
SkyEye video from above the bayou shows authorities searching the area in a boat. Multiple ambulances and emergency vehicles were parked along Old Galveston Road.
It was unclear what happened to the men's canoe to make them go overboard.
