Restaurant employee arrested for stealing credit card information

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Harris County investigators have arrested a former Papa John's employee and charged her with fraud.

Jolene Weisheit, 20, is accused of stealing customers' credit card information then using it to pay her own bills.

George and Alicia Woods say they noticed strange charges on their bank account after placing an order with the Papa John's located on Beltway 8 near Wallisville Road.

"She paid her State Farm Insurance," Woods said. "She paid her light bill."

Detectives with Harris County's Financial Crimes Unit tracked those charges to Weisheit. They say she would steal customer's credit card numbers while taking orders over the phone.

Detectives say Weisheit then used that information to make online reservations at hotels along Interstate 10 along with other purchases. She stole about $800 from the Woods alone.

"It's inconvenient," Woods said. "We have to wait for the money to come in and planning a graduation for our daughter. It's a lot of stuff need to be done, and these funds are gone."

Detectives say Weisheit was found with between 10 and 50 items of identifying information, including government-issued ids and several bank account numbers. They have identified dozens of victims so far, but detectives believe there could be more.
