Woman hit and killed by another vehicle after she stepped out of a car during an argument, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was hit and killed by oncoming traffic in southeast Houston after she stepped out of a vehicle and onto the road during an argument, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said a couple was arguing inside a vehicle just after midnight on Saturday on Highway 225 near Allen Genoa Road.

Sgt. Michael Barrow said witnesses saw the vehicle pull over to the right side of the road, and a woman got out. He said it was clear she was arguing.

Barrow said the woman walked into the lanes of oncoming traffic, where another vehicle hit her.

HPD said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who hit her exited the freeway, called 911, and cooperated with authorities, Barrow said.
