Woman killed trying to cross Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was killed on the Gulf Freeway on Sunday night, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers offered few details about the incident, but did say the victim was possibly trying to cross the freeway.

The deadly crash led to a complete closure of the northbound lanes near Edgebrook Drive.

Houston TranStar cameras showed the traffic buildup as first responders worked the scene before the northbound side of the freeway was completely closed off.

HPD said an investigation is underway.
