SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Drivers, heads up, a portion of US-90A will be shut down until Friday afternoon for necessary construction, according to the City of Sugar Land.

Starting Thursday morning, the Texas Department of Transportation will implement a full closure of the US-90A eastbound lanes approaching the Grand Parkway (SH-99) intersection.

TxDOT says the closure is intended to install new signs at the east and west ends of Cunningham Creek Boulevard.

Drivers will be detoured to Harlem Road and then take John Sharp Drive east until FM-1464 brings them back to US-90A eastbound.

Those in the area are asked to be mindful of the crews and follow the designated routes, and expect delays until the lanes reopen Friday around 3:30 p.m.
